Overview
The CAIMEN Automatic Bollard is an electric-hydraulic rising post that sits flush in the road until you need it, then comes up to 600 mm in 4 seconds or less. It drops back down in 2 seconds or less. The post is 304 stainless steel, 219 mm across with a 6 mm wall, and it's rated IP68, so it keeps working even with water sitting over the pit. CAIMEN is a Shenzhen-based manufacturer of gates and access control equipment, founded in 2013, supplying automatic bollards to distributors, installers and project buyers worldwide.
Not every lane needs a powered post, though. The same 219 mm family also comes as a semi-automatic (manual air pressure), a fixed post and a key-operated removable post.
Key features
Lowered, it carries a 100-ton truck
Retracted, the bollard supports up to 100-ton truck passage without deforming. The structure behind that is a 4 mm carbon steel drain and outlet reinforced with 4 welded ribs, plus a non-slip flange you can order 6 mm or 10 mm thick.
Fast cycle, simple hydraulics
It runs on AC 220 V through an electric-hydraulic drive. Rising takes 4 s or less, lowering 2 s or less. Two control systems are offered: the CM-S810 standard unit and the CM-S810B outdoor waterproof unit for cabinets that can't sit indoors.
Emergency drop when power fails
EPS backup power and a one-button emergency drop come standard. If the mains goes down with the post up, you can still clear the lane.
Plays well with the rest of your entrance
The bollard can link with license plate recognition, barrier gates, access control, infrared sensors, a loop detector, signal lights and fire alarm systems. Cloud platform and mobile APP remote control are supported,.
Visible at night
An optional high-brightness LED warning light sits in the head. The semi-automatic, fixed and removable versions take an optional LED strip (with or without power supply) and carry 5 cm reflective tape with reflectivity of 90% or more.
Built to your drawing
Diameter, height, wall thickness and rising speed are all customizable. Top texture and OEM marking are available on the non-powered versions, and non-standard sizes are accepted.
Where it fits
Think of the four versions as one toolkit:
- Automatic: busy vehicle lanes at government buildings, embassies, data centers and campus service roads, usually paired with a barrier gate or LPR camera.
- Semi-automatic: lanes opened a few times a week, or spots with no power run at all. It lifts on internal air pressure and still works in a blackout. Load capacity is up to a 50-ton container truck.
- Fixed: permanent separation where nothing should pass, like a storefront edge or a pedestrian plaza. It's the lowest-maintenance option, at roughly 26 kg per post.
- Removable: fire lanes and market streets that open now and then. A key releases the post, and it can be pulled or refitted within minutes, with no foundation wiring.
Imagine a public building forecourt: two automatic posts at the vehicle gate, fixed posts along the curb, and one removable post where the fire truck needs a way in. If your threat is a heavy truck at speed rather than a car, look at a road blocker as well.
How to specify it
Here's an honest line you should hear early. Load capacity isn't crash rating. Our 100-ton figure describes trucks driving over a lowered post, not a vehicle hitting a raised one. Real anti-ram bollards are tested to ASTM F2656, where a set vehicle weight hits the barrier at a set speed and the rating records how far it got through; ASIS's Crash Ratings 101 and ASTM's own summary of the F2656 standard both explain the M and P designations. We don't claim an ASTM F2656 rating for these posts. If your security consultant requires one, tell us at the start.
| Version | Operation | Embedded depth | Weight (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automatic | Electric hydraulic | 800 mm (cylinder 335 mm dia.) | 56.5 kg |
| Semi-automatic | Manual air pressure | 770 mm (385 mm dia.) | 45 kg |
| Fixed | None, permanent | 200 mm (320 mm dia.) | 26 kg |
| Removable | Key-operated | 200 mm (320 mm dia.) | 34 kg |
That embedded depth decides the dig. An 800 mm pit needs drainage planned with your civil contractor, so don't leave it to the last week.
For a quote, send:
- Number of posts of each version and the lane widths
- Rising height and diameter, if you need other than 600 mm and 219 mm
- Power available on site (the automatic post runs on AC 220 V)
- Systems it must talk to: LPR, access control, fire alarm
- Indoor or outdoor control cabinet
- Climate; operating range is -35 to 75 °C
We send drawings first. Production typically runs 15 to 20 days after drawing approval. Browse the full range on our products page, or write to [email protected] through the contact page.

CAIMEN Automatic Bollard questions
Can a car drive over the automatic bollard when it's lowered?
Yes. When retracted, the post sits flush and supports up to 100-ton truck passage without deformation, so cars, vans and heavy trucks can roll across it. The semi-automatic and removable versions are rated up to a 50-ton container truck. Keep in mind this is a drive-over load figure, not an impact or crash rating.
What happens if the power goes out with the bollard raised?
The automatic bollard has EPS backup power and a one-button emergency drop, so the post can be brought down without mains power. If a lane has no power at all, the semi-automatic version is the better choice: it lifts and lowers on internal air pressure and needs no external supply.
Will water in the pit stop it working?
The automatic bollard is rated IP68 and is designed to operate normally under water. Still, plan a drain line for the 800 mm pit with your civil contractor.
Is the bollard crash-rated to ASTM F2656?
No, we don't claim an ASTM F2656 crash rating for these bollards. Their published load figures cover vehicles passing over a lowered post. If your project needs certified hostile-vehicle protection, raise it at the quote stage so your consultant can confirm the right product type and test level for the site.
