License plate recognition parking system for lots and garages

Parking access controllers with built-in cameras, LED displays and cloud management.

CAIMEN parking access controller CP004
Parking entrance with barrier and LPR terminal

Ticketless entry and exit

CP series controllers house the camera, fill light, display and control board in a 2.5 mm aluminum case with fluorocarbon coating. They link to barriers, cloud platforms and payment systems.

CAIMEN helped draft China’s national standards for smart parking data and platform requirements.

Overview

The CAIMEN License Plate Recognition Parking System reads a car's plate at the lane and tells the barrier when to lift. You build it from our CP-series controllers (CP001, CP004, CP006) and the HJ003 cloud payment terminal. The three CP models are standing columns, with the camera, fill light, display and controller all inside one aluminum case. The HJ003 is different. It's an aluminum-alloy payment terminal with a 15-inch LCD, and it's the model that supports offline transactions. CAIMEN is a Shenzhen-based manufacturer of gates and access control equipment, founded in 2013, supplying license plate recognition parking systems to distributors, installers and project buyers worldwide.

On the company side, CAIMEN took part in drafting three Chinese national standards, two of them on smart city smart parking (Part 2, data requirements, and Part 3, platform technical requirements); there's more on our about page.

Where you put the column matters more than most buyers expect. Sighthound's write-up on parking ALPR explains why: at a gate the plate is only a small part of the frame, and headlights blind an ordinary camera. So mount it low, angle it at the plate, and control the lighting.

Key features

Fast plate reads, day and night

A plate gets identified in about 0.1 second. The spec sheets put the recognition rate above 99.8%, around the clock, and both the CP004 and CP006 carry a 5-megapixel camera.

Fill light that switches itself

On the CP004 you get 12 LED fill lights with a 30 degree angle at 10 W. They're tied to a photosensitive switch, so they come on as the light fades at dusk and go off again in daylight. You aren't lighting the lane at noon.

A case meant to sit outside

The housing is 2.5 mm aluminum alloy, sealed in a U-shaped structure that's dustproof and waterproof. Two coats of fluorocarbon powder go on, and each one is baked. Tempered glass covers the display face. It's rated to work from -25 to 75 °C, and the CP004 and CP006 list 30,000 hours MTBF.

Displays drivers can actually read

The CP004's dual-color LED reads from more than 30 meters away. Anything over 8 characters scrolls across the 16 x 16 dot matrix, and there are four display modes. Want a bigger screen? The CP006 adds a 22-inch HD LCD that can run your own ad content, while the HJ003 uses a 15-inch industrial LCD.

Plates, QR codes and payment

No registered plate? The driver scans a QR code to get in, and again to get out. The CP006 also supports ETC identification and one-click calling. The CP001 and CP006 support mobile and multiple payment methods. The HJ003 is the dedicated pay terminal: face-to-face payment and scan-to-pay at 30 to 80 cm, plus a cloud video intercom that works at 50 to 150 cm, with noise reduction improved by 30%.

Local storage, standard links

Each controller keeps its own records. That's 30,000 on the CP001 and 50,000 on the CP004 and CP006. For the network, the CP001 uses TCP/IP. The other two run 485/TCP over an Ethernet port that auto-adapts between 10M and 100M and has lightning protection built in.

Where it fits

Think of any lane where a car has to be recognized before the arm goes up. Typical spots:

  • Paid public lots and garages that want unattended entry and exit (see our parking facilities solution).
  • Office parks and factory gates, where staff plates sit on a whitelist and visitors scan in.
  • Gated communities with resident lists and a QR route for guests.
  • Commercial complexes that want the CP006 screen to carry tenant ads.
  • Transport hubs, where display distance and fast reads cut queues.

ICMA's article on parking access control lists LPR alongside QR codes and mobile credentials as touchless entry, and honestly that's the right way to see it. Plates cover the regulars. The QR route catches everyone else. Add a CAIMEN barrier gate and your lane is complete.

How to specify it

Start with two questions. What should drivers see, and do they pay at the lane?

ModelBest forKey difference
CP001Simple entry and exit lanesTwo-column LED, TCP/IP, 30,000 records
CP004Most staffed or unattended lanesFour-line LED readable beyond 30 m, 12 fill lights
CP006Retail and mixed-use sites22-inch LCD for ads, ETC identification
HJ003Unattended pay-at-lane exits15-inch LCD, scan-to-pay, cloud video intercom

When you're ready for a quote, send us:

  • Number of entry and exit lanes, and lane width.
  • Expected peak traffic, say cars per hour at the 8 a.m. rush.
  • Whether drivers pay at the exit, and which payment method you'll use.
  • Available supply voltage (inputs are listed at 220V) and network type.
  • The barrier arm length you need, or the gate you already have.

CAIMEN License Plate Recognition Parking System questions

How accurate is the plate recognition?

The spec sheets list a recognition rate above 99.8% day and night, and a plate is identified in about 0.1 second. Your real results depend on camera angle, lane lighting and plate condition. Send us your lane layout so we can talk through mounting position with you. Muddy or bent plates? Those will always be harder to read.

What happens to cars without a registered plate?

They don't get stuck. A driver in an unregistered or visiting car scans the QR code on the controller to enter, then scans again to exit and pay. If something goes wrong, the CP006 offers one-click calling, and the HJ003's cloud video intercom lets a remote operator talk the driver through it.

Does CAIMEN's work on national parking standards mean the system is certified?

No. CAIMEN took part in drafting Chinese national standards on smart parking data and platform requirements, and that isn't a product certification. It doesn't replace any local approval your project needs, either. For the documents that apply to your order, ask us about CE and FCC.

Can the controller work with a barrier gate I already have?

Usually, yes, as long as the barrier accepts a standard open signal from an access controller. Send us the barrier make and its control input details, and we'll check compatibility with you. Building new lanes? Buying the controller and a CAIMEN barrier gate together keeps commissioning simpler.
