Your driveway decides more than any catalog will. Before you settle on a villa gate solution, grab a tape. How much room is there beside the opening? In front of it? Behind it? Get those three numbers and the gate type mostly picks itself. Design, color and controls come after.
We build four gate styles for private homes. You'll find each one below, then side doors and controls, then finishes. The page ends with what to send us, so our first drawing isn't a guess.
What a private entrance has to get right
Homeowners ask a lot of one gate. It should look like part of the house, not something bolted on later. Nobody wants to sit in the street with the engine running while it creeps open, either. Then there's the weather: years of sun and rain, plus salt air if you live near the coast.
Space is the hard limit, though. Say your lot drops straight off the road and the lawn starts two meters behind the wall. A swing leaf would chew into that lawn on every opening. Or picture a deep forecourt with no side wall whatsoever. Where would a slider park? Nowhere. Neither gate is bad. Each one is just wrong for that site.
So sketch the entrance first, and mark the free space on every side. Fall for designs later.
Swing, sliding, bifold or turn-over: matching the gate to the site
Here's the short version. Details sit under the table.
| Gate type | Space it needs | Best fit | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aluminum swing gate | A clear arc inside (or outside) the gate line | Classic facades, flat forecourts, double-leaf entrances | Slopes inside the arc; parked cars in the swing path |
| Villa sliding gate | A side run at least as long as the opening | Short driveways with a long boundary wall | Needs a foundation for the bottom beam along the run |
| Bifolding gate | Post space on one or both sides; no long run | Wide openings, tight sites, no floor track wanted | Panels need fold clearance next to the posts |
| Turn over gate | Very little in front, behind or beside | Shallow, boxed-in entrances | Catalog models use a 1.6 m leaf; height and width can be customized |
Aluminum swing gate
It's the traditional pick, and it earns that spot. Our aluminum swing gate comes single or double leaf, opening in or out. Infill pattern, wood grain and color are yours to choose. Every batch of profiles ships with a third-party inspection report. Got a flat forecourt and room to spare? A pair of swinging leaves still makes the grandest arrival.
Villa sliding gate
Short yard, long wall? Slide it. The villa sliding gate runs on a heavy-section bottom beam: 6005-T6 aluminum, 302 x 213 mm, with a 7.0 mm wall. Soft drive, anti-pinch, an infrared alarm and a manual clutch all come standard. Catalog models like the TYXF-1801 and TYXF-1805 use a 1.6 m leaf, though we'll draw the size to your opening. Before shipping, these gates are pre-assembled and operation-tested, and you get installation drawings plus technical support.
Does your wall turn a corner? Then look at a turning sectional sliding gate. It follows a curved track and parks along the side wall.
Bifolding gate
For tight, wide openings, a bifolding gate is often the best fit. Its panels fold toward one post or both, so you get no arc and no long side run. It hangs on our patented top-bottom axis. Weight travels down through the bottom pivot into the foundation, and there's no pre-embedded floor track to dig. On a driveway where rain or snow would pack into a groove, that's a real plus. Expect it to open in about 6 to 12 seconds on a 24 V brushless motor.
Turn over gate
Some entrances are simply boxed in. A turn over gate turns and folds its leaf over itself, so it barely asks for space on any side. The TYFZ-2401 and TYFZ-2402 come with a 1.6 m leaf.

The recommended combination for a private estate
One gate rarely does it all. A complete estate entrance usually has three parts working together:
- A main vehicle gate picked from the table above.
- A side door for people on foot, so guests, gardeners and couriers don't set the big gate moving every time. We also build villa side doors, with finish and decorative pattern options chosen to match the main gate.
- Matching aluminum fencing along the boundary, so your gate isn't a lone statement in a run of mismatched panels.
Controls are what tie it together. Our swing gates can be wired for a radio remote, push button, keypad, RFID, video intercom, smartphone, loop detector or license plate recognition. The bifold's 10th Gen control system takes a similar list, face and fingerprint readers included.
Running a single family home? A remote plus a video intercom at the side door handles most days. If it's a bigger estate with staff and regular deliveries, ask about plate recognition at the main gate.
Past CAIMEN residential projects include a floating folding gate at Huayang Lake No.1 in Dongguan and an electric sliding gate at Guangzhou Fantasy Garden Mansion.
Custom design without the guesswork
We build every residential gate to order. You send the opening, some photos and a feel for the style you like. Our CAD team draws it to your site. Drawings and renderings come back to you before a single profile is cut.
Nothing goes into production until you approve those drawings. From approval, it typically takes 15 to 20 days. We cover drawings, inspection and packing, then installation guidance and after-sales support. There's more on our custom aluminum gates page. Dealers ordering under their own brand should check OEM and ODM.
Our honest advice? Settle the gate type and the space first. Pattern comes last. A beautiful drawing of the wrong gate type is still the wrong gate.
A finish that holds up
Color is what you notice on day one. By year eight, you're looking at gloss and color retention.
Our standard finish is AkzoNobel Interpon D1000, a powder tested to AAMA 2603, and we cure it twice at high temperature. Coastal villa? Site that bakes in strong sun? You can upgrade to Interpon D2000, a superdurable powder tested to AAMA 2604. Its 5-year South Florida exposure test allows a color change of 5 delta E at most, chalking no worse than No. 8, and gloss retention of at least 30%. One caveat we won't skip: those reports cover the powder coating, not the complete gate.
Want the AAMA numbers in plain terms? Tnemec's overview of AAMA performance standards explains the tiers well, and so does Amico's comparison of AAMA 2604 and 2605. For gate-specific advice, read our guide to AAMA 2603 vs 2604 gate coatings. The coatings page lists every option.

Safety comes with the motor
Sooner or later, an automatic gate at a family home meets a kid on a bike. Or a dog that won't stop. Plan for it now.
DASMA's gate systems safety brochure and DoorKing's gate safety page agree on the core point. Wherever someone could get caught between a moving leaf and something fixed, you need entrapment protection, like photo eyes or contact edges. In the US, operators are usually checked against UL 325, and gate construction against ASTM F2200. Ask your local installer which rules apply to your property. Then build that into the drawing.
On our end, the swing gate can carry photocells, safety edges, a flashing light, obstacle detection, an emergency stop and a manual release. The bifold goes further, with infrared anti-collision that stops and reverses the panels. Power cut? Its self-locking drive has a manual clutch.
What to send for a quote
Send more of this up front and you'll sit through fewer rounds of drawings:
- Clear opening width and the gate height you want
- Free space beside the opening on each side, and in front of and behind the gate line
- Photos from the street and from inside, plus any slope, curb or drain across the driveway
- Your preferred gate type, or two you're choosing between
- Style references, color (a RAL code or a facade photo works) and whether you want wood grain
- Whether you need a side door and matching fencing
- Access controls you want, and the power supply at the gate
- Climate notes: salt air, heavy snow, strong sun
Use our contact page or email [email protected]. We'll reply with a recommendation and a first drawing.
